Maxicare is a proud supporter of Alice Reyes Dance Philippines, whose performances of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana this past week were a resounding success! The shows were held at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati on June 14 and 15, 2024, and are just one of the dance company’s many exciting shows this year.
First premiered by ARDP in 1974, this year’s presentation of this classic cantata featured a stellar cast headlined by baritone Byeong In Park and soprano Lara Maigue, two performers well-known throughout the business as exceptional soloists.
Other voices included members of the Philippine Madrigal Singers and the Kilyawan Boys Choir, Inc., while the music was provided by the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO). Maestro Herminigildo Ranera, the PPO’s resident conductor, conducted the show, which was presented by the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
ARDP’s conceptualization of Carmina Burana was originally brought to life with set designs and costumes by the deceased National Artist for Theater Design Salvador Bernal. The beautiful designs by Bernal, brought to life by the performance of ARDP’s excellent performers, continue to dazzle to this day and are one of the highlights of this year’s presentation.
