Maintaining healthy and fresh skin is not always easy. Many people invest a lot of time and money in achieving this goal. However, there are four basic self-care tips that everyone can incorporate into their daily routine. You can try these out yourself or share them with your loved ones to keep your skin glowing and radiant every day.
Tip #1: Practice daily affirmations
Affirmations help to build our confidence and ward against negative mindsets. The psychology behind affirmations shows that regular affirmations affect brain activity–and this can positively affect your brain’s connection to your skin. Start each morning positively by saying affirmations to yourself in the mirror while getting ready for the day. Here are some of our favorite affirmations:
- I trust that I can achieve my goals.
- I am becoming a better version of myself one day at a time.
- I love myself unconditionally.
Tip #2: Eat right to fuel your body
Since we tend to let the day’s activities get the best of us, we sometimes feel tempted to skip meals. However, poor eating habits can negatively impact our health. This can even lead to chronic health conditions.
Keep your meal times as regular as you possibly can. Block out your schedule to have time to get a proper meal. In case you need a quick bite, it also helps to keep your workspace stocked with easy-to-eat foods, such as low-sugar muesli bars and fruits.
Tip #3: Make time for sleep
There’s no reason to feel guilty about needing your sleep. Great sleep equals a healthier you. Quality sleep has many benefits, such as stress management and maintaining physical health.
Put together a pre-sleep routine that helps you wind down at the end of the day. Avoid using electronics or participating in physically intense activities an hour before bedtime to properly set your mind for sleep.
Tip #4: Go for routine health screenings
Prevention is better than cure. Health screenings can detect underlying health conditions, even if you’re not experiencing symptoms yet. This means you can intervene early–whether it’s with lifestyle changes or medication–before it worsens into something more serious.
For ladies, in addition to basic health screening, here’s what you should be doing:
- Cervical cancer screening: 25 years and older
- Breast cancer screening: 50 years and older
Most importantly, you know your body best. If something feels amiss, don’t hesitate to seek medical help immediately. Consult with a doctor anytime by calling the Maxicare 24/7 Teleconsult hotline. You may also visit one of our Primary Care Clinics near you for a face-to-face consult, should you prefer.
